Last night I finished knitting the sleeves on the Megillah Sweater.
Looked at them and realized that they are different length!
When I started poking around to figure out why, I realized that on one sleeve I made a cable cross every eight rows, but on the other every seven rows. The difference is TEN rows!
Darn! Darn! Darn!
You know what this means, right? The frog pond. I riped out one sleeve and started re-knitting it again last night. I will re-knit both. Yes, both sleeves, becouse I was not entirely happy with the decreases I made, so this is an opportunity to change them.I have managed two cable crosses - this time I am careful to use the row counter, then I started falling asleep. So I put the sweater away. The reason why I made this idiotic mistake in the first place is becouse I pushed myself too hard. No more.
Now the kids have left for school, the baby is sleeping, I had my tea and ready to face the sweater.
Here I go again!
And, as before, I will post my progress on Twitter.

I love your comment 'off to the Frog Pond!' You are very disciplined, I would have kept with it and worn it and carried one of my arms shorter...or tell the recipient to do the same. I am sure it will be fantastic when it is done and you will be pleased with it. :) x
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to know I'm not the only one who visits the frog pond. Extra tall men in my family. Making DS #2 a sweater. Finished the body (in the round), held it up to DH (my resident model)and discovered it was too short. Had to frog to the underarms and add inches. Knit a round yoke on something else last night only to discover the decreases were too much and the neck is going to be too tight. Back to the frog pond. Nice to know I'm not alone there. (Rippit)
ReplyDeleteTo Inthesky, I could not do that. It would bug me. A lot. Ripping them out and starting over is actualy easier.
ReplyDeleteTo Gloria, Oh, I am a regular member of "Kol Tzfardea" choir - the translation from Hebrew is "The voice of the frogs".
ripping is inevitable when you are knitting as fast as you can and you are as busy as a bee.
ReplyDeleteI saw the word disaster and was afraid the baby got a hold of scissors or something. This is just a frustrating setback.
ReplyDeleteSorry for the frustration, but you will have it in perfect condition by bedtime, I am sure.
I hate it when I do something like that. You will get it done, just don't rush.
