I have written much about my lemon tree. It is my joy. Whenever I feel sad or upset I go to it, look at it and touch it. Invariably I feel better. 
Well, right next to it is another smaller tree. Last year it put out a few flowers, but we had seen no fruit. Well, the first pair of socks of 2012 is now done!
And yes, they are warming my feet as I write this post. 
But I need at least a few more. So I have decided that for the next month I will concentrate on equipping myself with enough socks to see me through the remaining cold months. I estimate another 4 or 5 pairs.

The Ample Shawl is truly ample, it is the largest one I have knit so far. It was made for a friend, who asked me to make her a shawl "so big, that she could wrap herself in it and shut out the whole world". She is also a dedicated baby wearing Mama and wants to use this shawl with her sling to keep herself and the baby warm and snug. 
I dislike shawls that have a point in the back. I have happily announced a few days ago that I am done with the body of the Megillah Sweater and will finish the sleeves next day. 
I wish! It turned out that the body was too short after all and I needed to add a couple of inches of ribbing. So I ribbed, and ribbed and got really bored with ribbing and looked for reasons not to knit.

You know how so many knitting instructions tell you to check your gage? Well, sometimes you should listen to them and make that swatch! Specially if you are working with the yarn you have not worked before. Having said this I will freely admit that I rarely make a swatch. Simply because I am usually confident in my abilities to fit the garment I am making to the recipient.

Finally yesterday I corralled DH and we took photos of some more finished projects! Then I even got him to upload the photos on the laptop. I miss my computer! Unfortunately it looks like it is permanently dead. And there is just no way for us to buy another one in the foreseeable future.

DS #1 was "visiting" us lest week. He had a flu, was cranky and full of self-pity. Darn, as I wrote it I realized that this describes myself too.

Knitting and crochet is the best form of therapy I know. I was worried for a few days that I could not knit or crochet at all. Happily I am now back to my craft and love every stitch!

Getting supplies for my stitch markers here in Israel has been more or less impossible. I have been trying for a long time to get someone to bring the beads and findings over here.
Well, lucky me! A friend was visiting Israel and was able to bring some of my bead candy! DH's Ex, 17 years after divorce, was trying to force a stupendous amount of money out of us. It was really, really horrible. Poor DH! Poor me! The court was finally held this past Monday. It is this time of the year again! The weather turns cold. Or at least here it turned cooler - not that we have to wear a sweater - a light shawl gives enough warmth to keep me warm and comfy even in the evening, after the Sun sets. I love the way "Good Mood" Shawls happened. I am saying "happened" becouse I feel like they knit themselves! They were such a joy to make!

Yes, once again I hit the road for one of my mini-tours. I have to admit that I happen to love mini-tour. As in I get to go home at night and sleep in my own bed.

Last week I had to pass by our local Yarn Shop. I was not going to enter. OK, OK, I know this is denial, but I really thought I could pass it by. 
Well, I just took a little look at the shop window and I had to come in. They had a very interesting yarn (I thought from outside it was ribbon) in crazy Carmen Mirandesque colors.

Well, as of today we have officially finished learning the "Alef-Bet" - Hebrew equivalent of ABCs. I can hardly believe it, but in exactly two weeks I can actually read and write Hebrew words. Something I have not been able to accomplish before. And I have tried quite a few times.

It all started innocently enough with a cough DS #3 picked up. Just a little rattly type of cough that quickly grew worse. And worse...

I just woke up and I am still feeling soooo tired. Most of yesterday, just like the day before, has been spend on running from one office to another. With one significant difference. We were able to accomplish most of what needed to be done.

Kfar in Hebrew means village. And that is exactly what Kfar Chabad is. A small village with houses surrounded by lots of trees. Lots of fruit trees, like pomegranate and fig palms. Lots of flowering trees and bushes.

A friend has send me a letter asking if she could adapt my Baby Cocoon pattern for Summer use. 
Well, my Cocoon was made out of bulky wool, but my friend, understandably in this weather, wants to use thin linen yarn. Of course, you see a problem here. So, instead I have improvised and came up with this super easy all purpose "Cocoon Recipe" that will work with any yarn.

It feels like the inside of the oven here! 
A lot better than it was in NY, but very, very hot. As long as we stay indoors from about 11 AM to 6 PM it is not too hot. I have now re-read the last sentence and realized that I probably need a cold compress. 
It would be much more comfortable if we used air conditioning more, but it is outrageously expensive. So we make do, for most part.

My "Good Mood" Shawlette is finished! It is turned out to be more of a scarf than a tiny shawl. But I think it will look very nice on my petite friend. It will make a perfect little layer to take away the chill of the night. And it looks very decorative.

I have been happily knitting away for most of the day on my new project: "Good Mood Shawlette". I am knitting it for my friend Bassy. It is hard to believe I will see her in a little over a week. I can hardly wait!
She is a tiny Lady, and yes, I mean Lady. Bassy will be staying in Yerushalayim, where it get cold in the evening even in the Summer so she will be able to enjoy the little shawl.

Yesterday DS #1 turned 14! 
Luckily for us it was the week when he got to come home for Shabbos. So we could all celebrate together. 
DS #1 has grown a lot in the last year. And discovered an amazing "fix it" talent. He can fix almost anything and loves working with his hands. 
We miss him a lot when he is away. Thankfully he is coming home for his Summer brake in less than two weeks.

It is HOT!!! Really, really HOT!! Even DD #4 is hot, but happy nonetheless. 
Hot enough that the kids prefer to stay home during the day and come outside at about 6 o'clock and stay out until late. I can see the reason for the midday nap, that used to be universal. Here most shops and offices close up at 12 and re-open again at 4 p.m. Personally I want to sleep most of the day. I do not usually enter online blog contests. Not because I am not tempted, but because of the little underground pessimist. One of my friends has told me that when her teen-age son was asked by the director of his school what he liked to do for fun, the kid said that he liked to visit kivrei tzaddikim. The director laughed. 
Well, I got to tell you the way it is done here in Israel, visiting Holy Sites is not a hobby, it is a national sporting event!

Feeling grumpy (I usually feel grumpy at 6.15 A.M and underappreciated), and found a little paper bag. Looked inside and had to smile. These little sheep made my morning.
They were practically the last fiber related "toy" I bought before going to Israel. I bought them at Jo-Ann's with my Mom.
